Sal
Home to the single terminal Amílcar Cabral International Airport, Cape Verde’s main international airport, Sal is a relatively flat island with wide golden beaches and practically guaranteed sunshine.
It is therefore not so surprising that tourism accounts for about half the island’s economy which was once based on the salt mining from which the island takes its name and from fishing.
Some of the tourism centers round the town of Mudeira on the west coast. The beachfront The Mudeira Village Resort is an example of a 3 to 4 star hotel property that you will find in the area.
The main tourist centre on Sal, however is Santa Maria on the southern tip, which boasts the impressive Santa Maria beach and a lively nightlife which between them keep the visitors very happy.
